This artwork (colored pencil, graphite, and digital enhancement) reimagines the "Fountain of the fallen angel" statue in New Orleans by exploring what lies beneath the surface- both physically and metaphorically. This piece suggests that after stripping away the figure's stone flesh, a raw framework of its form lies underneath. with storm filled skies and crackling energy surrounding the fallen angel it's as if the figure was caught in a moment of divine punishment. The skeletal form, still locked in its dramatic pose, challenges the viewer to consider whether this is a vision of erosion and loss, or an unveiling of truth that was always there.
